Kilmarnock-born davy brown studied at glasgow school of art between 1968 and 1972. Qualifying as an art teacher following his graduation he was also awarded a scholarship to travel and teach art in America, Canada and Iceland.
Alongside a developing career teaching art Davy exhibited in solo shows from the age of 21. In 1997 he was elected on to the national assessment panel for art and design serving for 7 years simultaneously gaining a position as lead teacher in art and design for dumfries and galloway. he also worked with the scottish examination board and scottish qualifications authority in various capacities for 25 years.
in 2002 he retired to become a full time artist. Collected by high profile clients, davy’s work uses inviting colour variations and structured lines of light and shade to portray mainly still life and landscape images.
