Born in wick, caithness, frank studied at camberwell art school, london and worked as a design draftsman. since 1981 he has worked as a professional artist. While his early paintings were made using watercolour, more recently he has worked with acrylic and oil paint helping create the thick impasto and flat areas of colour in his still life works.
influenced by the scottish colourist movement Frank paints colourful marine views of the scottish west coast and still life studies using vivid primary and secondary colours that are often based around the reflective qualities of glass and metal.
frank’s contemporary paintings appear in private and public art collections and have been exhibited at the RSW (royal scottish society of painters in watercolour), RGI (Royal glasgow institute of fine art) and RSA (royal scottish academy) and leading art galleries across scotland.
