Glasgow-born Ian elliot graduated from Glasgow school of art and attended jordanhill college of education before becoming a teacher for 16 years attaining the position as head of art and design at king’s park secondary school, glasgow.
in 1997 he left teaching to pursue the development of his artistic career. his paintings take visual inspiration from the island of mallorca, italy and france, highlighting the strong colours of the mediterranean landscape. the contrasting environs of the scottish coast are treated with a similar colour expression as his mediterranean images, drawing a thread of warmth throughout his practice.
his has exhibited at the rsw, rgi, the pisley institute, the aberdeen artists’s society and the glasgow art fair as well as the affordable art show, the scottish show (thompson’s gallery), the scottish show (Richmond Hill Gallery), The london art fair and the Eton gallery in London.
